Museo vinciano

The little town Vinci with its 14.000 inhabitants, is situated 25 meters (85 foot) above the sea level, in the province of Florence and surrounded by the characteristic Hills of Tuscany. The city has been founded in 1250 and its area is about 54 km˛. Guidi built the beautiful castle of the town, which passed under the jurisdiction of Florence in the thirteenth century. The place is also well-known as the birthplace of the famous artist Leonardo da Vinci. Its interesting museum draws ca. 500 000 visitors a year.
